Due to the ongoing game, information regarding this group will be limited to what the PC's have actually learned. As they learn more, more information will be revealed.
When the god of war Kallestrae fell from divinity, he'd left one mandate to his followers...Bring war to the three worlds. Many of these followers, in time, turned to the new god of war. Some, however, did not and retained their devotion to their fallen lord. A few of these, who were once powerful clerics, knew of a particulair plot of their lord's. The plot was far reaching, and would have taken centuries to complete, but it would mean the end of arcane magics. To bring technology into the world is to lessen the power of the leylines. So to this end, denizens of the plane of mechanis were brought to the worlds, to teach, and to disrupt.
As the years after Kallestrae's fall passed, the mission subtly changed. The focus of their war became the enactment of this plot, and so for the last 300 years they have sought out the old places of dead power in their perverted sense of their dead god's will. Any that learned of their involvement, or even existence, needed to be silences, in Kallestrae's name of course.
For the last century however, another subtle change began to take place. The long lost power of the divine began to emerge amoungst them again. For them, this was proof that Kallestrae was begining to return, a result of their holy endeavors. Made bold by this realization, they have begun to be far more pro-active within the worlds.
