Well damn. We've had several discussions concerning this, but I don't recall any specific resolution. I will attempt to list the proposed changes I can recall, feel free to fill in anything I've missed.
1) Remove Avatar Entirely and offer a replacement Divine Salient.
2) Limit the number of Avatars as follows: Lesser God, 1 Avatar. Intermediate God, 2 Avatars. Greater God, 3 Avatars.
3) Add a restriction preventing a deity from having their Avatar's within close proximity to them.
4) Limit the Number of Avatars to the number of Domains a deity has, and then restrict their activities to things pertaining to those domains.

No replacement needed. All the raised gods were given avatar as a bonus just so they could have an avatar in Elysium.

For those dieties that actually took the Avatar Divine Saliant, they would be allowed to refill that slot with something else. For any dieties that did not wouldn't get a free divine saliant. |

Raised Gods were never given Avatar as a bonus salient ability, they were given a single avatar that could never leave Elysium. I'm still not sure what I feel we should do about Avatar's violent brokenness. I'm voting for delete and replace for now, because limiting the numbers doesn't really get rid of the logistics issue and making them unable to get near each other and the main god seems arbitrary.

I am fully in favor of option 3 where the avatars can't be within a certain distance of the god him/herself. By taking away avatar you would be limiting a god's ability to be more than one place at a time, a benefit which I truly enjoy.
