So, the Avatar poll showed that the winning option was to get rid of Avatar completely and offer a replacement DSA in its place. However, that option only won narrowly, and the discussions have continued since, so I have pulled together several suggestions from multiple sources to create this new Avatar. The new poll will determine whether or not this is what we choose to use. This version of Avatar is added directly to the Godhood Template and is not a Salient Divine Ability.
Avatar
All deities of Divine Rank 5 or higher gain the ability to create Avatars. Avatars allow a God to be in multiple places at once. Gods also frequently use Avatars to create alter egos or alternate versions of themselves.
An Avatar is an extension of the Deity. The Deity senses and knows everything the avatar sense and knows and vice versa. Each Avatar counts as a remote location where the deity is sensing and communicating.
Deities receive an Avatar Divine Rank Pool equal to their own Divine Rank with which to create their avatars. All created avatars must be at least Divine Rank 1 and can have up to half the divine ranks of the Deity creating it. Each Avatar so created depletes the Avatar Divine Rank pool by a number of Divine ranks equal to the number invested into it.
For Example: Sardinal, Lord of Balance, Time, and Death, is Divine Rank 18. Therefore, his Avatar DR pool has 18 Divine Ranks within it. He could choose to create 18 Divine Rank 1 Avatars, or 3 Divine Rank 5 and 3 Divine Rank 1, and so on. The Highest DR he could put into a single Avatar is 9.
Each Avatar has 3 Domains which must come from the Deities domain list and a number of Divine Salient abilities equal to a normal god of their Divine Rank, which must come from the list of Divine Salient Abilities possessed by the Deity creating it. Avatars can have the Extra Domain SDA to have more of their creators domains. Avatars can not have the following SDA's under any circumstances: Possess Mortal, Gift Mortal, Divine Host. Avatars, regardless of Divine Rank, cannot create other Avatars.
Unless specifically created to look different, an Avatar looks identical to the God that created it and has all the same classes, feats, and skills.. It does not possess copies of the Deities equipment, however.
Avatars do not have any remote sensing or remote communication powers, regardless of Divine Rank.
Divine Resonance:
Once created, avatars and the god that created them become dangerous to each other. Their powers, so similar, resonate with each other in violent ways. The more powerful the deity, the more pronounced and powerful this effect is. No Deity may be within 1 mile per Divine rank of one of its Avatars. Approaching closer than this limit creates a violent reaction between them that instantly destroys the Avatar and deals 2d20 points of untyped damage to the Deity per Divine rank of the Avatar so destroyed. Avatars cannot be near each other either. No Avatar may be within 1 mile per Divine Rank of the highest DR Avatar in range or both are instantly destroyed.
It takes a deity one year to create an avatar or replace a destroyed avatar. The process does not require any special effort on the part of the deity, they simply start the process and let it run its course. Avatars must be created within the Deities Divine Realm, but must leave immediately after being created.
