The Third Age: The Third Age of Severall, called the Age of Discovery is close to 4000 years long. It spans the time between the death of the racial progenitors to the destruction of the legendary city of Clearwater. In between, each of the primary races discovers the others and the inhabitants of the three worlds discover that there are indeed three worlds. The races spread out and explore the continents, great cities and kingdoms are built and destroyed.
Third Age Timeline
3a26y: Nathis Kul, Herrod Crossriver, and Emil Enchantrisin begin their first adventures together. Their travels and exploits make them famous in their home town of Clearwater and the surrounding area.
3a27y: Nathis, Herrod, and Emil (at this point being called collectively The Heros of Clearwater) discover a strange new metal, which they call Aelium. Nathis studies the metal for months, eventually discovering the recipe for Aelium-Forged Steel.
3a28y: Emil begins making a magical scepter, which he names Hope. Made of Aelium-Forged Steel and Darkwood, Hope becomes the first intelligent magic item on Severall. As the years pass, Emil layers more and more magic on Hope, making her extremely powerful. Herrod begins construction on the first paved roads in Severall, leading between his native Clearwater and Hearthome.
3a29y: An ancient and terrible blue dragon named Chyrnoblis and his slave armies of orcs, kobolds, and ogres massacre several human settelments to the west of Clearwater. The Heroes of Clearwater set out to find these armies and destroy Chyrnoblis. During their travels west, the Heroes of Clearwater encounter tribes of barbarian humans, making friends with many of them. A month later, the Heroes encounter a herd of Gorgon and are turned to stone for 37 years (See 3a64y).
- The leadership of the Church of Katdoral within the drow forest begins an experiment, bringing together the most talented sons of each of the four Great Houses to form a unique Deep Watch patrol. Koric Aeradyll, Vrin Alhara-Veluth, Chal-Tsu Shassa-Telan, and Kaltorel Iraedoluthan are brought together as a team and name themselves Katdoral's Will (Tur'Katdoral). Within the first year of their patrols, the group uncovers and puts down a large slave rebellion, hunts and destroys a band of drow killing Ogres, and destroy the faith of an entire orc town in their false god, converting the entire town to the worship of Katdoral. The group also performs the first Vile Sacrifice in Severall's history, a Unicorn. The unicorn's horn is turned black by Katdoral's power and the group is instructed to craft four rings and a sacrificial dagger out of it. The rings would eventually be known as the Black Mana Reseviors, and the dagger as the Spiral Knife of St. Vrin.
- Later that year, Katdoral's Will discover a secret cabal within the Church of Katdoral that acts as inquisitors and hunters of Heresy. The group shows a disturbing tendancy to involve itself in drow politics. Katdoral's Will enacts a plan to eventually take over this small cabal and reforge it into a more sensible secret police force. Kaltorel is placed in charge of this groups activities.
- A Deep Patrol called the Farish'tantil returns from a sojurn outside of the Drow forest with news of a strange new sentient race they have discovered called "Humans". Katdoral's Will is recruited to deliver a number of drow who have been killed and reincarnated as Humans to human lands to begin studying this new race. Just before they are due to leave, however, Chal-Tsu Shassa-Telan leaves the group, fleeing into the wilderness for unknown reasons. The rest of the group sees this as a betrayal, and Kaltorel vows to hunt and kill Chal-Tsu. The group replaces Chal-Tsu with Darcinihil Shassa-Telan, a Necromancer. Darcinihil was born mute, yet touched by Katdoral to be able to cast arcane spells without verbal components. The group begins to develop the beginnings of Drow Hand Cant to better communicate with their new member. With Darcinihil, the group begins their first long journey north to human lands.
3a31y: Katdoral's Will returns to the Drow Forest after successfully delivering their drow spies to human lands. They also have a couple human captives with them, who become the first human slaves in the drow forest. The group rest for a brief period before enacting numerous plots to gain more power within drow society. The group was very disturbed by what they had seen in human lands and believed that drow society must become stronger and dominate or destroy the humans quickly. To this end, each member began organizing the first drow guilds in order to find and teach the most talented among the houses.
3a33y: With their many projects running smoothly, Katdoral's Will begins their second journey to human lands to deliver a new batch of reincarnated spies.
- Three very powerful strangers named Kail Broadblade, Elyria, and Ursin appear in Clearwater. The three declare that Clearwater is their new home and purge all people of evil alignment from the town. The Great God Thelin appears in Clearwater, supporting the new trio. Shortly after, the Great God Katdoral appears and a titanic battle between the two gods ensues. Nearly half the town is destroyed in the battle before the two gods leave.
3a64y: The Heroes of Clearwater, still petrified, are discovered by a travelling Elven wizard named Jilari Ravenlock who was studying the ecology of the gorgon. Curious about these strange petrified creatures, he transports the statues back to his home in the elven forest far to the north. There, he returns them to flesh and blood thereby initiating first contact between humans and elves. The Heroes agree to remain with the elf for one year so they can learn from each other, before returning home.
3a66y: The Heroes of Clearwater, long thought dead, return to Clearwater after 37 years. There, they meet Kail, Elyria, and Ursin for the first time and the two groups become wary allies. Shortly there after, the Heroes of Clearwater set out once more to hunt Chyrnoblis.
3a67y: Chal-Tsu is discovered by Kaltorel, but succeeds in convincing Kaltorel that his leaving was on Katdoral's orders. Katdoral needed Chal-Tsu to walk a different path. Chal-Tsu returns to Heartwood and rejoins the fold.
3a73y: The Heroes of Clearwater, with Kail, Elyria, and Ursin finally manage to track down and destroy Chyrnoblis with the aid of a powerful silver dragon named Mithrilantiir. This event sets into motion a calamitous series ofconsequences that eventually culminates later that year with Baphomet, the Demon Prince of Beasts, physically entering Severall. He is the first such powerful outsider to set foot on the Prime and his corruption is so powerful that his presence permanently blights an area of 5 miles in all directions. He is driven out shortly after by Thelin, yet his taint marks that area forever more.
3a79y: Kail, Elyria and Ursin work with the Gods Thelin and Sardinal to kidnap one of Katdoral's Avatars. Once they have it, they enact a powerful divine ritual to transform that avatar into a Chaotic Good version of Katdoral. This new being names itself Kalistrae, who becomes the God of War and Fate.
3a88y: Ursin becomes the Chosen of Thelin, the first mortal to be granted such a title and power.
3a90y: Kail and Elyria become the Chosen of Kalistrae.
- Koric become High Seat of House Aeradyll.
