Founding:
Westercourt has had a long and fruitful relationship with the Confederacy. Originally the City-State was a province within the Kingdom of Hearthome. The cities humble beginnings as a small port town of shipwrights and fishermen. didn't stop it from becoming one of the most influential and wealthy Kingdoms in the Confederacy.
Westercourt produces some of the finest maritime vessels of both war and industry. Westercourt is conveniently located downstream from a huge natural forest of trees mainly consisting of a rare breed of oak trees who properties are amongst some of the hardest oaks in severall. In addition to its incredible natural source of raw materials used by the cities renowned shipwrights the culture of this province lends itself to a rich naval tradition steeped in honor, tactics, and seamanship.
Grand Admiral Sinese Wester was one of the major instigators in the Confederacy’s founding. He was instrumental in protecting the major port cities and trade routes of the Kingdom of Hearthome, after the campaign against Hilltop and its allies..
The admiral was awarded land and title of the territories known today as the City-State of Westercourt. Himself a genius in naval design broke ground on the city of Westercourt which he claimed would be the birthplace of the finest vessels the world has yet to see.
He is almost revered in Westercourt as divine protector of sailors, and is entwined with its naval traditions, lore, and mythology.
Current:
Westercourt has grown into a thriving metropolis largely due to the demand in workforce surrounding its immense naval operations. The shipwrighting industry needs all manor of tradesmen and labors to bring the behemoths of the Confederate navy alive. This of course creates its own demand for workers, small business, and commerce to support the large workforce of professionals residing in Westercourt.
Further lending to its powerful appeal to the masses, is Westercourt ample opportunity to for work becoming experienced sailors on the inland sea and abroad. Sailors hailing from Westercourt or serving under Westercourt captains are a sought after commodity at home and abroad due to the knowledges and strict disciplines indoctrinated into every sailor. Self proclaimed masters of the sea these men take great pride in their seamanship.
Westercourt has seen explosive growth over the centuries and it can be seen clearly in the cities design, or lack there of. Cheaply built buildings of wood and stone, built over and over throughout the centuries unevenly smother the landscape and has created an elaborate chaotic labyrinth of tunnels, ante chambers, and redoubts in the city’s underbelly, creating prime real-estate for dens of scum, villainy, and piracy to crop up and prey on the masses.
More recently the dens have come over sway of a uniting influence of the churches of Zivix have become the most dominate in profiteering in all manners of vice and debauchery including but not limited to drugs, piracy, money lending, gambling, prostitution, and murder for hire.
