The Stormguards.
Located on the north eastern edge of the Elyrian Continental Mountain Chain (Crown of the World) the Stormguard mountain range is a series of steep mountain peeks that tightly encircle a vast valley consisting of dark mineral rich volcanic soils made lush by crisp mountain tributaries, each of these culminating into a long dormant volcanic caldera. Which gave way to the birth of Lake Glandor'Glor (Lake of Gems).
The four major mountains that comprise the bulwark of the range are, Deeps Claw to the West, Shatterpeaks to the East, Har'Kadrin (Mountain of Fire) to the North, and Harst'Hval (Flat Top) to the South.
Shatterpeaks is a fault-block mountain that was created by the eruption and subsequent annihilation of the super volcano at Glandor'glor. When Glandor'glor annihilated itself, the sudden void created by the ejection of the massive magma chamber sundered Shatterpeaks in three peices across its two fault lines. This sent the center of the mountain crashing deep into Severall, leaving behind the twin peaks of its namesake.
Although the towering summits of Shatterpeaks is its most striking feature that dominates the eastern skyline the majority of its real-estate lay with in its mountain steppes and box valley. Scores of rivers and streams quickly flow across its jagged mountain faces and its gently rolling steppes creating steep water falls and white water basins that empty into the White river tributary. In the summer months high atop the twin peaks, the run off from the melting ice and snow create a fantastic phenomenon. Twin waterfalls jet down over the steep summits onto the steppes and valley below, creating a summer-long light foggy mist.
Har'Kadrin is a stratovolcano created after the purge of Glandor'glor. The volcano is actually believed to be a vent of the dormant super volcano at Glandor'glor, stretching nearly seventy five miles away from the center of the caldera lake basin. Har'Kadrin has been gently but continuously erupting since the first dwarves settled these lands, and likely for eons before that. This constant activity created a fantastical natural network of caves, caverns, tunnels, and fissures of every type and size stretching all across the Stormguards. Once of the more interesting natural phenomena is the subterranean river of magma that flows from the caldera at Glandor'glor to Har'Kadrin. The river of golden white molten rock and metal terminates in a massive scintillating magmafall located deep within the volcanoes belly.
Deeps Claw is series of complex or folded mountain massifs nearly an entire range onto itself and comprises the entirety of the western skyline at Glandor'glor lake. The scores of jagged peaks and summits form a tightly grouped semi circle that stretch all the way to Har'Kadrin to the north and to Hrast'Hval to the south. First Talon, first in the line of five major peaks in Deepclaws is by far the largest in terms of sheer height, mass, and girth in the entirety of the Stormsguards, and is centered squarely in the middle of DeepsClaw's expanse. This creates two seemingly unique conditions in the area. First is due to the sheer height and circumference of the tight grouped range it creates a natural barrier of protection from all but the most incredible storms. This phenomenon creates a sanctuary of temperate climate within the Glandor'glor valley and lake basin. Secondly, the tightly bound peaks act as a natural gate or wall preventing all most the most seasoned man and beast to traverse its treacherous base. There is however one pass between First Tallon and Second Tallon that allows for year round passage too the caldera lake basin.
Hrast'Hval is another fault block mountain created by the blast at Glandor'glor. Hrast'Hval is an extremely dangerous mountain due to the seismic activity there. Earthquakes that can knock a ram from its perch happen with alarming frequency. Most beings and wildlife stray from the proximity of this mountain due to the chaotic nature of frequent earthquakes, landslides, and devastating avalanches. The most striking feature of this mountain its the summit of the mountain appears to almost completely flat, as if a giant axe took its peak off with one fell swing.
Glandor'glor (Lake of Gems) caldera was formed after the annihilation of the a super volcano eons ago. The extreme pressures of the apocalyptic explosion that happened there created dense and rich formation of gems jewels and crystals from which the caldera gets its name sake. Over time the mountain tributaries of the Stormguards filled the giant caldera basin and those formations were covered in a thousand feet of water. On exceptionally sunny days light from the sun shines through the great lake and you can catch glimmers of these hulking formations deep within the great lake. Glandor'glor lake consumes around one quarter of the entire caldera basin, the rest is a strikingly flat valley, lush with miles of open meadows of grass, flowers, and grains. The soils are so heavily fortified that the growth of plant life literally explodes every spring.
The Kingdom of Stormguard.
The Kingdom of Stormguard came into being sometime in the late 2nd age. A culmination of five prominent regional kingdoms. The Kindoms of Stonesky, Stoneshoulder, Hammerfell, Shatterhorn, and Spellhammer bound themselves and other minor clans together in an effort to face the ever present dangers of the great mountain range of Stormguard, where the kingdom and its capital claim their namesake. The clans first true effort to create a united kingdom of multiple and diverse regional kingdoms and clans. Its was under the leadership of Delvin Stonesky and Riordane Stoneshoulder that the foundation of the city and concept of Stormguard was laid. A new city for all. A nexus of trade, partnership, faith, and collaboration. All clans and kingdoms of the region would solidify bonds and be heralded as one not many, and to be known as The United Dwarven Kingdoms. A bold undertaking, or perhaps evolution of the seemingly natural isolationist attitudes typically held of the dwarfs.

The Kingdom of Sentinel
The city of Sentinel was originally a defensive fortification built in and among the mountain pass between the peaks at First Claw and Second Claw. Sentinel's defensive array of fortifications, battlements, armaments, and traps can be used to quell threats large and small with little effort and personal vulnerability.
The city sprung to life shortly after the United Dwarven Kingdoms were formed, in an effort to secure and maintain the only overland route in or out of the Stormguards. During this time Sentinel's most striking features came to fruition. The Gates of Stormguard and its twin monuments of King Delvin Stonesky I and Riordane Stoneshoulder I.
The city itself is arranged purposefully as a defensive bulwark with a strict militaristic doctrine, in which the ethos of its people are derived. A multi tiered city of winding tunnels, cliffs, bluffs, spurs, passes, and lush vales all host a menagre of fortifications, battlements, structures, and dwellings interspersed between the different terrains it encompasses.
Sentinel enjoys thriving trade from its regional kingdoms, as well as being the first to see wares from outside side regions. The city hosts the majority of The United Dwarven Kingdoms mustered troops, military facilities , and training grounds.

The Gates of Stormguard (Wonder)
Spanning the distance of 1500 feet between the base of First Claw and Second Claw, standing 600 feet tall, 300 feet wide at its base, and narrowing slightly to just 50ft thick at the top. At the center of its base, an adamantine portcullis and arched through-way lined and adorned with ancient glowing runes allows passage night and day.
On either side of gates, carved and sculpted from the very mountains they span stand two dwarves facing each other, one clad in heavy mountain plate wielding the traditional dwarven axe and tower shield with an out stretched Axe. The other in traditional Royal ceremonial garb cradling an anvil in one arm the other out stretched wielding a crafting hammer. Each weapon touching each other creating a bridge between the two colossus high above.
